Cairo American College

Established in 1945, Cairo American College is a PreK -12 grade international school accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS), the International Baccalaureate (IB), and The Middle States Association for Schools and Colleges (MSA). CAC is the only US State Department sponsored school in Cairo.  It was founded in a three-story villa with 50 American students enrolled in grades 1 - 8. It was not until 1970 that CAC moved to its current 11- acre campus in Digla, Maadi, a residential and very green area of Cairo. The campus today offers a 520-seat state-of-the-art theatre, 3 outdoor fields, 80 classrooms and 14 science labs.

More than 75 years after its establishment, CAC has grown considerably to encompass a culturally diverse student body that includes both expatriate and local students, representing 50+ nationalities, 65+ multinational corporations, 10+ embassies, 25+ NGOs and many of Egypt's leading companies. CAC alumni live and work in more than 90 countries.

 Cairo American College is unique among schools in Egypt in that it provides a world-class learning environment that prepares students for a successful future in today’s rapidly changing world. The school operates with the belief that student learning is the focus of all school activity and, as stated in the CAC Mission Statement, all students are challenged to envision new possibilities to achieve their aspirations. Another main pillar of CAC’s strong education system is the importance the school places on parental involvement. It is CAC’s belief that parental involvement in the day-to-day activities of their children is crucial to a solid and well rounded education.

Since 1993, CAC has offered the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Approximately 98% of CAC graduates enter university within one year of graduation. The counselors work closely with students to match their academic capabilities and other attributes such as leadership, involvement in co-curricular activities, and service learning skills with some of the most selective and prestigious universities worldwide.
